A finely moulded majolica decorative plate by Salins, featuring a pair of parrots perched among stylised foliage and fruiting branches, rendered in soft turquoise glaze with olive green and ochre accents. The relief work is richly detailed, combining naturalistic birds with ornamental geometric reserves and flowing vegetal motifs characteristic of late 19th-century decorative ceramics.
Examples of this model are generally attributed to Salins-les-Bains faience production and are often dated to around 1890 on specialised antique references. The composition reflects the decorative language emerging around the Art Nouveau period, balancing exotic natural imagery with highly ornamental surface design.
A striking cabinet or wall piece, particularly appealing for collectors of majolica, French art pottery or bird-themed decorative ceramics.
